Why not do something different this weekend? Your Who London host looks forward to seeing you for drinks before your group visits Sir John Soane’s Museum, a special historical 19th century house and national museum in Lincoln’s Fields.

You’ll get the chance to meet other Who Londoners over a drink first and then together explore an extraordinary collection amassed by renowned architect Sir John Soane in the early 19th century. These include antiquities, furniture, sculptures, architectural models and drawings. There are also paintings by by Hogarth, Turner and Canaletto.

Your ticket covers our organisation and bringing everyone together. Entry to the Museum is free, and we have booked specified time slots for our group. Our Who London host will have your entry ticket and looks forward to welcoming you for drinks at the meeting point, All Bar One in Holborn.

One of the most successful British architects of his era, Sir John Soane was also a passionate educator, elected as a Professor of Architecture at the Royal Academy in 1806.

On his death in 1837 Soane left his house and collection to the nation, stipulating that it should be preserved as it was at that time and that it should be kept open and free for the public’s inspiration and education.

A programme of meticulous conservation and restoration over the last 30 years will ensure it remains, as one of Soane’s friends described it, ‘permanently magical’ for generations to come.

At the end of your tour, you’ll be able to visit the Museum Shop where you’ll find a wide range of gift ideas from bespoke jewellery and beautiful books, to exclusive products inspired by the collection. Each purchase made supports the museum.

After visiting the museum your group may like to have a coffee nearby to end the afternoon.

Practicalities: Please note that some areas of the museum are narrow and filled with objects. The Museum’s Visitor Assistants will give you a clear plastic bag for any small items you’d like to carry and will store larger bags in their cloakroom. The museum can’t store large objects such as suitcases, large rucksacks, prams or bikes. Mobile phones and photography are not permitted inside the museum, and sketching is not permitted at weekends either.
