Drinks, Food and Southbank Winter Market

£5 members, £10 non-members

Spend a colourful evening with other Who Londoners enjoying drinks and maybe a bite before walking along the Southbank Winter Market on the river.

Your ticket covers our Who London organisation and bringing everyone together. There will also be a Who London host for the whole evening. You can purchase food or drink as you wish and entry to the Southbank Winter Market is free (some activities there are at an extra cost).

This event will go ahead in any weather.

We’ve arranged for everyone to meet and get to know one another first somewhere a bit different: Bar Topolski. Bar Topolski is an interesting and historical venue which opened in 1913 and is named in memory of Feliks Topolski, a Polish artist who in 1975 opened his London studio in the railway arches a stones-throw from Waterloo Station and behind the Royal Festival Hall. There he painted and illustrated events such as WWII and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, as well as painting Malcolm X and HG Wells. The Chronicles were his final work which you can see on the Bar Topolski walls.

You host will welcome you in our reserved Who London area and the first hour will be happy hour so some drinks are 2-4-1 and if you would like something to eat why not try the 12″ flatbread pizza or sharing boards. There are also some bites on the menu to tempt you.

Having warmed up, you’ll then head off to enjoy the wonders of the Thames-side artisan Christmas Market – see event header photo. The variety of stalls and shows are set under twinkling lights and of course there will be a Christmas tree to complete the atmosphere.

There’s lots to do and you can all decide together at Bar Topolski what catches your eye. This flexible evening will be a casual chance to socialise and meet new people whilst absorbing the South Bank lit up for the festive period! Some ideas are below….

Your group might like to also try one of the food and drink seasonal pop ups in wooden chalets, which are dotted around – the choice is mouthwatering and from all over the world: Applebee’s British fish and chips or freshly shucked oysters with champagne, beer and cocktails on tap; or traditional alpine fondue, venison hot dogs or aspen fries from Jimmy’s Lodge next to Waterloo Bridge.

There is also Bar Under the Bridge, an alpine-style lodge, with heated chalet booths, fleece rugs, board games and ping pong tables and you might like to head there together and have some fun.

You might end up sitting next to the fire pits of The Circus Bar in front of the Royal Festival Hall (and perhaps taste freshly cooked street food from the open-plan kitchen), or walking along the Thames checking out the stalls and finding some Christmas gifts.
