Get ready for a special summer! We’ve planned a great afternoon with Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet! Take a look here and read more below about this afternoon event from your host, Nikki, founder of HSDY.
Tell us about your Sunday Afternoon Disco Boat Party?
I love disco and I love boat trips so I jumped at the chance to combine the two.
Someone who had been to one of our regular Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet! 70s & 80s soul, funk and disco nights suggested a boat party as her family own MV Royalty.
When I saw the boat I knew it would be perfect for us as there’s plenty of space to dance and they even have a disco ball!
We thought that having a party on a Sunday afternoon in summer would make it a bit special and when we did it for the first time last year it was awesome. We had such fun that we just had to do it all over again this year.
The best bit had to be boogying to classic 70s and 80s floor-fillers whilst we were going under Tower Bridge. We even had tourists dancing along with us as we passed by!
What can people expect?
Well anyone who came to our night at Islington Assembly Hall will know HSDY is all about having fun whatever age you are.
The boat party is just like our nights – only on the river – so we have the most fabulous backdrop as we’re dancing.
We will have DJ Da’Lynne playing top vinyl tunes and Rebecca will be leading the dancing with a few routines to get us up and partying.
Perhaps not surprisingly we have gone for a nautical theme so these will include Rock the Boat by Hues Corporation, In the Navy by Village People and the Gap Band’s ‘rowing song’, Oops Upside your Head.
MV Royalty is ideal for us as upstairs there’s a large dance area and downstairs you can sit down and take a break and rest your feet if you need to.
There’s a licensed bar on board plus two small decks so you can take your drinks outside and get some fresh air.
If people want to dress up in something a bit retro or nautical that’s great and there are prizes to be won – but it’s totally cool not to too.
Where do people meet the boat?
Everyone embarks and returns to Greenwich which is great as it’s such a lovely place. Lots of people make a whole day of it by coming earlier and taking in the sights or stay on and enjoy the many bars and restaurants.
If anyone needs suggestions of places to go before or after they can just ask us.
RSVP now for this fun-filled Sunday afternoon on the Thames.
